Two athletes who learned their athletics at junior level at Pt Chevalier over a number of years continue to show great promise in their transition to senior athletics, competing with distinction at the Athletics New Zealand Track and Field Championships (28th – 30th March 2014).
Ivanja Po’uhila (15) competed in both the Senior and U20 Women’s shot put and was third in both events (another Aucklander called Adams secured Gold in the Senior event).
Maiya Christini (15) competed in theU18 Women’s 3000m and was an impressive 2nd, and she also competed in the 1500m for a credible fifth in a field of fourteen. Great results and fine examples to our juniors – keep trying, keep turning up, don’t give up.
The Point Chevalier Athletics Committee extends congratulations to Ivanja and Maiya.
