Pt Chevalier Athletics had strong representation in the Auckland Junior Athletics Championships on the 22nd competing in the age 7 to 14 Championships and there was some fantastic efforts and great results.
Particular highlights included Oliver Miller (14B), Sophia Clarke (12G) and Pippa Wylie (10G). Oliver won Gold in the 200m, 400m and High Jump and Silver in the Long Jump. Sophia won Silver in the 1500m and Bronze in the 400m and 800m. Pippa won Gold in the 400m, Silver in the 1500m, Shot Put and Discus and Bronze in the 800m. Congratulations also to Maddie Kelso-Heap who won Silver in the 8 Girls 100 metres.
Other results of distinction included Alexander Mildenhall (13B) Gold in the 1500M, Heidi Robinson (14G) Gold in the 1500m, Mia Chadwick (12G) Silver in the 100m, Truman Tepai (10B) Bronze in Discus and Elsie Mahey (7G) Bronze in Long Jump.
Many other children made finals, which Michael Gugich said is a fine achievement given the number of Clubs and children competing and he noted that there many 4th younger (7 to 9) age groups. ‘All children who make the effort to test themselves against their peers from across Auckland deserve praise’ Michael Gugich said.
